The Knot released the 10th annual The Knot 2016 Real Wedding Study and the finds are interesting! After surveying close to 13,000 couples across America, they have found that the new national average cost of a wedding is $35,329 compared to $32,641 in 2015. This is a $2,688 increase year over year and a larger jump than 2014 to 2015 which sat at a $1,428 increase.
Bringing these stats closer to home, the average cost of a wedding in Georgia is $31,426 bringing us right under the national average!
So, what’s driving the increase in cost?
- Couples are inviting fewer guests year over year while choosing to spend more per guest. The Knot provides the average cost per guest as $245 in 2016 vs. $194 in 2009
- Couples are choosing personalization and a great guest experience which includes everything from live entertainment, photo booths, food trucks, games and more!
- There has also been an overall increase including everything from venues, catering, photographers, flowers and more!
