What made you want to be a wedding planner?
Like most women, I had dreams of my wedding day since I was a little girl. I had a two year engagement so I could enjoy the planning process and spend time thoroughly planning our special day. There are so many pieces that go into planning a wedding that it can become stressful even for the most organized brides. I want every bride to enjoy the process of planning their dream day while leaving the stressful stuff to someone else. After all, your wedding is a once in a lifetime event, so why not enjoy the journey?
What is your favorite part of a wedding?
Watching the groom’s face while the bride walks down the aisle is a favorite but a strong contender is when the reception starts and the bride and groom are introduced. The nerves have calmed and the bride and groom can truly enjoy themselves and their friends and family for the first time as Mr. & Mrs.!
What is the one thing you consider a must have for a wedding?
I encourage all of my brides to hire a videographer. This is one expense a lot of brides try to cut early on but then wind up regretting. Once the day is over, you will only have pictures and videos to remember your special day. Invest in a quality videographer, even if it means cutting the budget elsewhere. I can promise you won’t regret it and you’ll have lasting memories to share with generations to come.
Weddings are already expensive, do I really need a planner?
It depends. Every wedding is different which is why I offer a complimentary meet & greet to determine what’s best for you and your wedding. If you are a super organized bride who wants to be involved in every detail of your event I would recommend you plan everything leading up to your event day and then hire a day of coordinator. If you are just crazy busy, hate planning or just flat out don’t have the time but want a perfect wedding I would recommend you hire an event planner to help from start to finish.
Can’t I just plan my wedding and have a bridesmaid handle the day of stuff?
Your girls are totally capable of helping out on your wedding day! While you definitely can request their help, it often puts the stress of the day on your family and wedding party who are focused on taking calls from your vendors, setting up tables and working on other tasks instead of spending time with you. On your day, you and your girls should be having fun and prepping for the night! I don’t only preach this, I practice it too! I hired a day of coordinator for my wedding and as a MOH in my sisters wedding, I requested she hire a day of coordinator so we could enjoy our wedding days!
What are the steps you take from start to finish when planning a wedding?
First step is a complimentary meet & greet to figure out your event day needs. Based on our discussion, I will send you a proposal and then a contract for review. We will meet in person, text, email and/or conference calls leading up to your wedding day. On your wedding day, I will be present in addition to an assistant coordinator. Once the wedding is over and you are off, we also make sure that all of your items are collected and your venue is back in the proper order requested.
How would you rate your communication skills?
I am an over communicator. I will be communicating with you and your groom handling timelines, vendors, questions and every other little detail leading up to your wedding day! I do realize everyone prefers communication in different ways (email, text, phone, etc.) so I do my best to tailor my communication based on your preference.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to travel. We go on at least one big trip a year! I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. We have two dogs, Chocolate & Dale, who keep me and my husband entertained on a daily basis. 🙂 In fact, our dog Chocolate got to participate in our wedding (pictured below).
